Is Insomnia not something worthy of worrying about?

I’m fairly sure I have Insomnia as I have all the symptoms. I’m acting on all the bedtime rituals and remedies especially suggested to help cure it so I’m not worried about suffering from it anymore. I’ve heard that Insomnia is a relatively common disorder affecting 1/3 of the population of adults, though I’m merely a teenager. Has anybody else had Insomnia before and if you have your experience and answer would be much appreciated. :) Cheers in adavnce.

Chosen Answer:

First, “worry” is a useless thing to do. You can’t fix anything by worrying about it.

Next, yes, insomnia can be deadly and should be looked at as serious. A person who isn’t sleeping isn’t functioning and can fall asleep driving, or working, and hurt other people.

Bedtime rituals and remedies? Sounds like you’ve been talking to Oprah or Dr. Phil.
Here’s a couple good ideas. No caffeine period. Take all the media equipment out of your bedroom, except an alarm clock, and turn that to the wall so the light doesn’t invade your sleep. Run a quiet fan in the room to circulate the air and act as a noise buffer. Don’t eat within 3 hours of going to bed, and keep the high acid and high fat diet to a minimum. No high energy exercise before bedtime either.
Make certain you have 8 hours or more every night to sleep.

What is the recommended dosage for Ambien?

So me and my friend are considering ambien for recreational use. I know we’re dumbasses but its my life, but anyway we don’t know how much to take without out passing/falling asleep/dieing etc. I am 15, 5 foot 9 and weigh approximately 150 lbs.
And what about the recommended dosage for cyclobenzaprine?
a.k.a. flexeril

Chosen Answer:

This drug is a hypnotic. There is no dose that will get you high without sedation. The normal dose is 5 to 10mg depending on the person’s age and condition. You should know that people routinely sleepwalk while they are on this drug and there have been cases where people drove their car in that state. It is scary. That is a good way to kill someone and get an involuntary manslaughter charge.

Does anyone know when the sleep medication Ambien will become available without a prescription?

It has been several years since this sleep medication has been on the market as a prescription drug and I know that after a certain length of time, a drug is able to be produced by other pharmaceutical companies. Just wondering if anyone knows when this is scheduled to occur.

Chosen Answer:

My doctor said that by the start of 2007 Ambien will be able to be made into a generic medication, which is cheaper but he said nothing about it being available without prescription. If you are worried about the price the new form which is Ambien CR is actually cheaper than the regular form. I am taking that but as soon as a generic is available in the Ambien I am going to switch to that. I didn’t notice a difference and I have taken both. You can also go to www.ambien.com and get a free 7 day trial for the Ambien CR, you can try it before you buy it. That is what I did as the Dr. offices don’t currently get samples of it.

mother took regular dose zaanax with new script ambien and went out of her head. Is this normal?

She is 78 years old and on cimbalta and cholesterol meds. She had a heart attack a few months ago and has stints. I want to know if its the ambien combined with the zanax that caused this. She was on nemenda and had the same reaction.

Chosen Answer:

It could be a combination of the medications or just the ambien. I know people who have had hallucinations with ambien.

Does anyone else int the Eastern DST time zone take prescription Ambien like me?

3 nights a week I take this wonderful sleep aid and wondered if anyone else online did and want to talk about the strange but sometimes interesting and sometimes funny effects of the this medicine. I haven’t slept-ate or slept-drove yet, but I have had weird visions. Anyone with me in forming the Ambien Club to talk about our experiences. Free membership we meed here on Mon – Thurs until we find a better online meeting place. Just search YA for the Ambien Club. Totally anonymous.

Chosen Answer:

I take ambien. It is one of the best medications ever invented. It makes me feel so good. I however have had the sleep eating and driving. In fact I would drive to walmart to get the food that I would binge on in my sleep. But I still love it, the side effects wear off after awhile. I have been taking it for several years and every night so you may not experience that.

I just had two glasses of champagne. Would it be okay to take my ambien (10mg) tonight?

Like the subject said: I just drank two glasses of champagne. Will it absolutely hurt to take my prescribed Ambien (10MG) tonight with the champagne in my system? I know it’s not good to mix the two, but I just want to know for sure. It was only a couple of glasses of champagne. Please let me know!

Chosen Answer:

As long as you don’t take while you’re drunk. If it’s been 1-2 hours later, I would exercise caution, but generally you should be alright. You won’t die unless you take the ambien absolutely drunk, like 5+ drinks. You should be ok, just drink a couple glasses of water and take the ambien when you feel just about sober.

Should haldol be used to treat combativeness when there is a lifethreatening overdose of ambien?

My daughter overdosed on ambien and did not survive. She was given haldol because she was combative.

Chosen Answer:

I think maybe you should contact a lawyer about this. I can’t say either way–I’m not a doctor–but it seems inappropriate to give Haloperidol, or any other potentially sedating drug, when there’s already a life-threatening situation caused by sedatives. So…call another doctor, call a lawyer…this situation seems kind of “off”.

I am having trouble sleeping, should I go to the doctor and get a prescription for ambien?

I have taken some over the counter sleeping pills. And they work, but they say to see a doctor if you take them for more than 2 weeks. Also they were making me sick. What should I do?

Chosen Answer:

Well, it would depend why you are having trouble sleeping.
Lots of times when people have trouble sleeping, they often aren’t doing enough in a day to make their bodies tired, and the later they stay up due to that, the more their bodies become accustomed to it. Also, if you are sleeping late because you cant sleep properly during the night it will naturally take you longer to get to sleep. My advice is instead of going directly to medications, try to change your sleeping patterns around. If you still find that you are unable to sleep, then instead of requesting ambien go to your local pharmacy and ask for melatonin. Melatonin is just a hormone that’s inside your brain that makes you tired, they will give you an artificial form of it, that should help you sleep. Its also less harmful than most medications prescribed by doctors because they usually say you have to dedicate around 8 hours to sleep, whereas with melatonin if you wake up in a couple hours you can just take another dose.

Hope this helped :D

If a person has had a brain trauma in their life is it safe to take ambien and/or ativan?

My mother-in-law is on both and to us it seems that they are causing her to lose her faculties although others will say that she is just old and getting Alzheimer’s/dementia. Some of her symptoms are from real concerns and some are imaginary. When she was a very small child she was run over by the school bus and nearly died, concussion and much more.

I have a prescription for 5 mg of Ambien. Will I be able to wake up if i need to wake up with only 3 hours of?

I have a prescription for 5 mg of Ambien. Will I be able to wake up if i need to wake up with only 3 hours of sleep or is better to take Tylenol PM?

Chosen Answer:

With 5mg of ambien, 3 hours of sleep is about all you will get. It wears off real fast, and when it does you don’t sleep at all.

You are better off with Tylenol PM. Ambien is a drug from hell. It quickly takes away from the brain the ability to sleep without it. You think you have sleep problems now? Wait until you have been taking ambien for a while – you have no idea how bad it can get.

Flush the ambien and fire the idiot doctor that gave them to you. Then find a doctor that can help you with sleep problems without just shoving drugs down your throat.
